WINTER WITHOUT THE BLUES: PREVENTING AND MANAGING SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER
I am so excited to announce this upcoming workshop on October 20th at 6:30 pm at the 92nd Street Y. I’ll be co-teaching with friend, colleague, and wonderful naturopathic doctor, Dr. Peter Bongiorno (see below for his bio), on the prevention and management of seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
As the days get shorter and the air grows colder, a lot of us experience physical and emotional changes that can last until spring. Our bodies might feel wooden and heavy and our minds fuzzy and dark. SAD is not in your head! It’s caused by changes in your biology. But there is so much to be done to prevent and manage this very real condition.
We are squeezing a lot into this class, including the causes and symptoms of SAD and:
- Sleep hygiene
- Environmental toxins
- Light and light box therapy
- The role of exercise
- Specific foods and eating patterns to help you feel better
- Dealing with cravings
- Support, stress management, and spirituality
- Complementary medicine
- Dietary supplements
Don’t wait until you feel the full weight of SAD. Take steps now to prevent and manage this condition so you can enjoy the beauty of winter without the burden of the blues. Hope to see you there!
