In breaking with tradition, I’m offering you an end-of-year cleanse so that you can confidently enter the New Year with your head held high and a spring in your step.
This cleanse is for…your Kindle.
So while you might have cut out gluten, sugar, or carbs in the past, this cleanse is all about detoxing your device from the poisonous effects of diet books. They are inflammatory, can be as addictive as heroin, and they cause endless suffering. They have simply got to go.
What follows is a 3-step process to permanently delete diet books from your Kindle:
Step 1: Follow this link to log into your Amazon account and Manage your Content and Devices. You will see all the titles that you have purchased, their authors, and the date of acquisition.
Step 2: Next, find the titles you wish to delete. Hint: any book with the word “diet” in the title probably needs to go; other than that, consider the following: if the book tells you what, when, and how much you should and shouldn’t eat, it’s a diet. You can sort results and search for specific titles and key words like weight, weight loss, new you, health, healthy, 30-day, metabolism, cleanse, detox, skinny, thin, fat, etc. Use your imagination!
Step 3: Once you have clicked on one or more titles, the little button that says Delete becomes selectable. Before clicking this button, take a moment to appreciate yourself: you are taking a stand against the oppressive diet culture and strengthening your resolve on the Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size path. Consider singing “You don’t own me” as you click Delete and confirm that you indeed do want to banish this title from your library.
Congratulations, you have completed the Kindle Cleanse.
Virtually fist bumping you,
Jenna Hollenstein, MS, RDN, CDN
