Mindfulness meditation is a bona fide cultural phenomenon. Research has shown that it can regulate blood pressure and reduce symptoms in stress-related illnesses. It can help prevent relapse into depression when included as part of a treatment protocol. It lowers the stress hormone cortisol. Those who practice it regularly report greater self-confidence, improved communication skills, and an increased ability to navigate conflict and uncertainty.

This is one amazing technique.

If you are a yoga teacher, life coach, business coach, nutritionist, therapist, health care professional, teacher, or anyone who works with others directly, becoming a skillful meditation instructor can be of great benefit to your clients, students, or patients—and, of course, to yourself. The primary qualification to teach well is to practice well. This special program will support you to both deepen your own practice and understand the special nuances involved in offering it to others.

On the face of it, it may appear that teaching meditation is a simple thing—what is so complicated about sitting down and breathing?! However, 2600 years of mindfulness-awareness practice has shown us that though the technique is simple, the results it produces are not. A responsible meditation teacher has  knowledge of how to guide others as their practice takes root.

The Open Heart Project is proud to announce its first-ever Meditation Instructor Certification Program. This online program is specifically constructed to serve those who work one-to-one or in small groups with clients or patients. Our program has been recognized by the International Coaching Federation. Federation members may claim 28 CEUS (14 core and 14 resource development) toward maintaining their coaching certification.

The program was created by Susan Piver and Jenna Hollenstein. Susan is the New York Times best selling author of 9 books, a long-time meditation student and teacher, and founder of the Open Heart Project, an online mindfulness community with close to 20,000 members. Jenna is a meditation guide in the Open Heart Project, an author, and a registered dietitian and nutrition therapist. She is founder of  Eat to Love and uses a non-diet approach to work one-to-one with clients struggling with chronic dieting, disordered eating, and eating disorders.

Participants in this program will gain the necessary skills to teach the meditation technique clearly, answer the most frequently asked questions with confidence, and gain insight into the teacher-student relationship.

This program is not about becoming a spiritual guide, but about learning to impart this ancient technique responsibly, kindly, and intelligently.
