Connecting the dots between hunger and fullness

This week we're talking about the relationship between hunger and fullness, for example, what does starting to eat at your "sweet spot" of hunger have to do with being able to recognize and stop at comfortable fullness? A lot, as it turns out. I also introduce an upcoming group you might be interested in!

The holidays are coming and the #1 question on recovering dieters’ minds is “How do I get through Thanksgiving, Hannukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Years without overeating so much?” The answer may vary for all of us, but I would like to support you to feel better about respecting comfortable fullness this year.

Beginning on Monday, November 7th, I will be offering a 4-week group that focuses on identifying (and respecting) comfortable fullness. The group will meet at 3pm eastern time for 1 hour (Note: we’ll meet twice before Thanksgiving and twice afterwards).

During week 1, we’ll prepare you to work with fullness by ensuring your basic physiological needs are being met and identifying your “sweet spot” of hunger. In week 2 you’ll create a personalized fullness scale representing the sensations you experience as fullness emerges. Week 3 will focus more intensely on the feelings associated with stopping eating, such as sadness, FOMO, longing, and anger. And for our last week, we will experiment with the pleasurable aspects of stopping when comfortably full.

The real beauty of this group is the community of participants, all on their own Intuitive Eating paths, but coming together to support themselves and one another. You’ll have the space to share what you are working with, listen to the shares of others, hold space for one another, and deepen your compassion for yourself and one another. The sessions will be recorded so that you can come back to review any content you wish to explore more deeply.

Full details including dates, cost, and breakdown of each session can be found here. I hope you’ll consider deepening your Intuitive Eating practice with this group.
